kokanee ice fishing questions
#1
i was really wanting to catch a kokanne and in the past we have caught them in the open water there so i made a 3 hr drive to go check it out. ice is ten-ish inches at the cerlew (sp?) ramp access and while there maybe fish in that lake i could not find them. between my uncle and i we had 3 maybe 4 hits the whole day.

I tried for bait shoe peg corn, gulp maggots, live meal worms. also i tied the mikes kokanne sent, mikes super juice and anise oil.

i tied white, pink, white and pink, and chartruse paddle bugs and above all of those 1/4 oz cast masters. i jigged, i dead sticked heck for awile i even tried jigging a wedding ring with a split shot on the bottom.

I watched schools of fish swim by on the finder and was right in the middle of them what was i doing wrong?

I've seen that happen before, and I don't think it had anything to do with your offering.

What were you using for a fish finder? Those flashers are priceless for kokanee. It is pretty obvious when a school of kokanee shows up, and you can easily put your lure in the middle of them.

Did the schools stick around long? Usually when they stick around for a while they hit. If they don't stick around long, you don't get many/any bites. Some days they don't show up at all either. I have slaughtered them 1 day, and gotten skunked doing the exact same thing in the exact same spot the very next day.

What lake were you fishing anyway?
