Hyrum Slush
#1
Made a trip to Hyrum this morning. I couldn't get on the ice. The edges, at least six feet out, are slush so I'd guess the entire lake is the same. Even with a board to get past the edge, I think you'd still go through. It's going to take a few nights of really cold weather before I'd try this one.

Thanks Larry
Not the news I was hoping for, but good to know so I don't run over and find a nonfishable pond... Thanks for checking it out... J

Did you try going out by the damn, boat ramp, or swim beach area?

Swim beach and the marina were checked. Standing water on the ice at the dam.

The dam cam showed a tent on the ice, did you see one?

No tents visible when I drove over the dam at 8 AM. I didn't stop and check the dam. Hoped to fish off swim beach.

OK. Thanks, I know last week when I went out from the boat ramp it was a bit sketchy but the swim beach was still good. If it's sketchy too now that's a reel bummer. [Wink]

more encouraging news as of this morning - according to the damcam, there are several people on the ice right now. I'll be one of them this afternoon or tomorrow!

Good luck, my pond edges are still weak, I think a plank will make it a go. Later J

Thanks! I think you're right. A plank will be in order... I guess I need to round one up quick! [Smile]

It's almost strong enough and if you're not as fat as I am you might be okay, but I hate wet feet so I built me one last year that is a 10-12' er and it has been worth the investment... I'm Hoping to get done with work early today and get out and try to find a spot for tomorrow... Not sure where I'll try now, since Hyrum is a maybe again... This probably means everywhere that was good to go before the warm is probably back in the game now... What do I want to try and catch???? Later J

Up here just checking and there are many peeps on the ice today. Ramp appears safe enough to get on. Don't see any planks. See pic

I fished it this morning for a couple hours and caught 3 bows and a couple small perch. There were 4" of frozen slush and about 6-8" of solid ice. I'm hoping it picks up in the coming weeks.
