Marlin
Marlin fishing was a bit sluggish this week, with all marlins ranging from 80 to 150 pounds caught near The Horseshoe using both live bait and lures. There were also sightings of a few blue marlins. We managed to hook and release 1 striped marlin on Wednesday, 1 blue marlin (180-pound) on Wednesday and 1 striped marlin today.

Dorado
Dorado activity saw a modest increase this week, weighing in between 10 to 20 pounds in the areas of Migrino, Margarita, and Los Arcos, caught using lures.

Tuna
Tuna are still scattered throughout the region, with sizes ranging between 15 to 25 pounds. Most of these tuna were hooked using cedar plugs and hoochies.

Wahoo
No reports of wahoo catches this week.

Rooster
No reports of roosterfish activity this week.

Inshore
Very few skipjacks were reported in the inshore areas.

Weather:
The forecast for Cabo San Lucas in the coming week is predicting the average daytime maximum temperature will be around 36°C, with a high for the week of 37°C expected on the afternoon of Monday 14th. The average minimum temperature will be 28°C, dipping to its lowest on the morning of Monday 14th at 26°C. Expect the coming week to have mixed weather with some days dry and some seeing a little rain. It looks like Saturday 14th will have the most precipitation with an accumulation of around 47.0mm. On the whole winds are likely to be moderate. The strongest wind will be experienced on Saturday morning, coming from a easterly direction, and reaching around 42mph.

Seared Tuna with Sesame Ginger Glaze

4 tuna steaks
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons sesame oil
2 tablespoons honey

For the Sesame Ginger Glaze:
2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 teaspoon sesame seeds

INSTRUCTIONS:

Seared Tuna:

Step 1:
In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, grated ginger, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame seeds, salt, and pepper.

Step 2:
Pour the marinade over the tuna steaks and let them marinate for about 15-30 minutes.

Step 3:
Heat a skillet or grill pan over high heat. Remove the tuna from the marinade and sear for about 1-2 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or to your desired level of doneness.

Sesame Ginger Glaze:

Step 1:
In a small saucepan, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, honey, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame seeds.

Step 2:
Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the glaze has thickened slightly and the flavors have melded, about 3-4 minutes.

Serving:
Drizzle the sesame ginger glaze over the seared tuna steaks and serve. The combination of the perfectly seared tuna and the savory sesame ginger glaze will create a symphony of flavors that will delight your palate.

If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs. You don't want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report.
