POST ACHILLES FISH TRIP - BERRY

Well, Liketrolling and Wiperhunter have not totally cleaned out the the Kokanee at Strawberry. There are a few left. All kidding aside, thanks for Robert and Wiperhunter for helping make my first trip back from Achilles surgery a success. Started fishing at 7:00am east of the Marina and it did not take long before we had our first Kokanee. After that, we could not keep the cutts off the line. Frustrating to throw back all those 18-20 inchers. Later that morning we found a few pockets of Kokes and had some more success. I have to say, the fishing and the catching was constant for 5 hours. Cutts and Kokes made for a wonderful morning. I can't believe how many boats were on the water on a Thursday. Crazy busy. I filleted up a limit of Kokanee and I can't wait to cook them on the grill.
What a great lake. Some days are magical on the Berry.
We used all the usual, pink squids, silver dodgers. However, that is not the only thing they will take. We tried 4 other types of lures and they caught Kokanee and Cutts as well. Kokanee Killers, Wedding Rings, Needlefish, Cripple Lures. Don't be afraid to give a different option on the menu to the fish. You might be surprised.

I think there was more boats on the water
Thr. than there was Sat but Sat they were spread all over more fishing for cuts
Thr. was a good day catching Sat slowed down at 9 am. we still did good Sat.
Cuts has started showing up alot more

its neet that you was changing lures, at ice off the only thing I could catch kokes with was shrimp and a worm.

when the kokanee turn red and start to run there is a lot of them.
you wonder how did they all live through all those fisherman
people worry about releasing kokes and I do to but there is a lot left, to lay eggs and make little kokes.

I should have been looking for you. I knew you were up there the previous two days. I guess I thought you wouldn't be there 3 days in a row. Haha.

I am surprised that Saturday was less than Thursday.

I agree that there are lots of fish left. I could not believe how many minnows I saw at the dock. I have never seen schools like that in the past. Does anybody know what kind of fish those are? Are they cutts, Kokanee or just some other kind of minnow?
