I have a rod that I absolutely love and really don't want to part with. I have had it at least 18 years. Nothing really special about it to anyone other than myself.
It is getting old and I still want to use it. There are couple line guides (eyes) that need to be fixed. The thread that held them on is now gone and are currently being held in place by electrical tape. Sometimes the tape starts to come undone and gets in the way of the line so I have to re-tape it.
I doubt that the handle to it can be replaced. I would love for it to have a cork handle. It is currently some kind of foam.
The pole once was a 2-piece. I have pulled and pulled but have not been able to get it apart. I have not tried any chemicals or pliers, etc because I don't want to risk damaging the rod.
Is there anyone out there that would be willing to take a look at it and possibly bring the rod back to life? I am not too concerned about it coming apart, but the line guides really need some help.
As I mentioned, its an older rod that only means something to me. So considering the age, etc. my wife refuses to let me spend too much on getting it fixed.
Any ideas?
