Me and crosseneye fished lincoln with no walleye anywhere to be found. went out to bird island, I hook a big carp in the tail, we cut a big hunk of meat from him and went catfishing. ken hooked the first one, a nice 5 lbs. channel, then it was my turn, another nice channel about 6 lbs. ken lost another one and that was about it. the rain and the wind came so we left. later chuck

Thanks for the report Chuck, sounds like the cat fishing was good even if the walleye fishing wasn't. Is it normal to catch catfish that big this time of the year or are you guys just awesome fishermen?

[cool]Thanks for the report, Chuck. Between your report and mikecromaine's from Saturday, it sounds like the Cat's are starting to come out to play. Can't wait for May-June when the Cat spawn is on, and it's really easy to catch nice size cats at the lake. Until then (and after) I hope the Walleye bite gets better.

Hey Paul, Ken means that the spawn will be over at D.C. by April 15 or close to that date. the spwan might be done at utah lake, unless the cold fronts that came in just shout them down, not sure. if the weather gets warm in the next 2 weeks they might get more active again. I'm not going to wait and see, I'll be fishing D.C. for the rest of the spawn time.
Paul you are right about D.C. getting hot in may, june, the post spawn (recover) time will be done by mid may and the walleyes go on a good feed for the next few months. this summer should be a good one at D.C. as long as the water stays up in the weeds.

Hey utahwalleye,
have you fished Deer creek yet this year? I'm thinking about running up there but I'm not sure where to try up there at this time of the year. The earliest I have caught walleye in DC is May. Any suggestions would help.

right now the walleye should be moving into they're prespawn stage. area. the fish will be in at leat 40 feet of water. try the RR side (west bank) a spot is just about straight across from the main boat ramp. the bank is very step then flatens out on a big point. I like to anchor on the big flat point and let out line until I'm just over the dropoff. try virtical jigging with nightcrawlers. later chuck
