Has any body been up to the berry recently?? I'm heading up on Fri. wondered how things were going up there. I'm hoping that with this past couple days of colder temps. the slush wont be so bad. Sounds like a lot of the action has been at the marina. Anybody try the ladders?

I fished the Goose Bay which is east of the Ladders saturday on the ice . Ice was 20" thick . 12 inches of softer ice on 8" of hard ice underneath . Slush was not a problem at all . Top was a little watery but no problem . I was only on foot but didn't sink at all on the ice . I found a hump out in the bay at 18' and was getting fish cruising by quite often . Bite was better once the sun went down but I didn't get there till 4:00pm .
Oh yeah Welcome to the site .

Myself and two buddies fished strawberry today. We fished west of the marina. We tried 20, 25, 29, and about 50 feet of water. Only two fish were caught. Both were 18" cutts.
The wind blew all day, I think the storm coming through had something to do with the lack of production.
We saw lots of fish on the fish finder, but they just wouldn't hit.
The was a gentleman and his wife there also, she was catching fish in about 10' of water.
We had 4 wheelers, the slush is getting very bad in spots. It prevented us from going where we wanted to go.
The ice is still over 24" thick, but lots of slush. The edges are getting pretty soft.

[black]That is great news for those of us who have been chomping at the bit to get our boats back on Strawberry. Ice fishing is fun, but having the ability to move around and search for fish from a boat raises the enjoyment to a new level.[/black]

Thanks for the feedback. I should be getting up there round 1:30 or 2'ish. I'll be on foot so I wont be able to get around quite as much as I'd like but, oh well. It'll be great to get up there. Wish I had a digital camera so I can post the lunker that's just waiting for me.

Your ice has lived long enough -- time for soft water. Down deep you know you want to get up there again with MGB on a boat!
