Nightcrawler/Worm Help?

Does anyone know of a place where they sell nice big old fat nightcrawlers or worms? I have had it with the soft and delecate ones the big places sell. Can't dig any up either. I need some to do some serous walleye fishing this springs and summer. A good strong real worm is a must.

[]have you guys ever gone out in your yards or in a park at night or somewhere that they water a lot and has grass. I use a flash light at night and catch them after watering or a big rain you can often find a lot on the sidewalks or gutters in the street around parks with lots of grass or around your yards.
You can also buy some electric probes that you stick in the grass/dirt and plug it in and the electricity brings them out on the grass for the picking. I have'nt tried them but have talked to a few people that have and they said that sometimes the worms don't last as good as just catching them at night or after the rain. I don't think my fat *ss would last to long if you electric zapped me either but you never know, but I think I will pass.

the walmart near Trout_Slayers house in Roy always had some fatties. they were tough enough to survive being bpounced off the rocks on the Bear river below Onedia in Idaho, and the Weber along the highway.

I think the last time I dug up worms was about 20 years ago but it is the best option, they're free! Why pay for an inferior product that you can just dig up? Probably because I'm lazy.

For sturgeon fishing, I purchase the large Canadian nightcrawlers from Wal-Mart.

[cool][#0000ff]Wait until the first good soaking rain of a warm spring day. Go out with a big bucket at night and walk down the street picking the crawlers out of the flowing gutters. You can get a ton.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you have a cool basement corner or a garage that does not get very warm, you can keep them there. Otherwise, pick up a cheap used refrigerator and keep them there. Keep them properly moistened and fed and they will last for a season.[/#0000ff]

I hear ya I am tired of paying 3 bucks for a bunch of skinny little nightcrawlers!!! I found a used mini fridge for 20 bucks and a bought a worm hotel and that way I can pick out some fatties and go and let the skinny ones eat and get fat for next time.

seems like you hardly ever get a dozen of those real juicy ones from a store anymore!

There is a house in Kingston that has a self-serve worm station set up...very convenient.

Verlo Otley used to raise and sell great worms out of his house on 2200 West. I think it was about 4600 south. If he's still around, it would be worth a try.

He is still around and has the best bait in town he sells worms meal worms wax worms colored worms i would go there

I have heard that if you get a small styrofoam cooler and fill it full of moist shredded newspaper, then go buy a couple dozen worms and throw em in that you will end up with lots of big fat worms. I dont know if this works or not, but the guy swore by it. Says he has 3 coolers and never has to buy worms.
