Perch Lakes in Utah
#1
I'm trying to find all the places where perch can be found in Utah. These are the places I've found so far:

Bear Lake, Newton, Hyrum, Rockport, Echo, Pineview, Mantua, Deer Creek, Jordanelle Utah Lake, Yuba, Willard Bay, DMAD, Gunnison Bend, Fish Lake, Bountiful Lake, Holmes Creek Reservoir, Jensen Nature Park Pond, Mill Meadow, Starvation, Johnson Reservoir, and the Bear River.

Feel free to add to this list.

I've never caught one there, but hear they don't grow much because of how cold it is. Who knows though, maybe some have attained a decent size by now.

[cool][#0000ff]Perch over 16" have been caught at Bear Lake. Lots of 13's and 14's. Just not a huge population of perch and very few people that really fish for them. All the troutaholics fish with methods not effective on perch. But quite a few "less sophisticated" fish-for-anything anglers catch perch while soaking a worm...in between carp, suckers, whitefish and other non glamorous species.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]There are supposedly a few spots out at the edges of the weed lines that you can target perch very effectively during the summer.[/#0000ff]

Go to the marina at bear lake and you can find thousands of dinks swimming around the docks. Have seen a few truly big ones swimming there also though not near as many. I have personally caught two over 13 inches about 4 or 5 years ago, but that was just screwing around fishing off the rocks just outside the marina while the kids swam. Never really targeted them for some reason. There could be an issue now catching them there, now that the park manager shut down fishing inside the marina, but I don't know how he feels about ice fishing it though. I know a former park ranger who caught some through the ice there a few years ago just to prove it could be done, and I may be mistaken, but I think bearlakefishguy may have been there with him.
