Hey,
I've already been pot shoted by the calif. contingent on the float tube forum so go easy, ok? This is the first big, and largest, large mouth I've caught. Caught 9-4-03. Guess where. Where else? See attach.

First of all, I just wanted say good job on the good bucketmouth there, Leaky! Always feels great to pull in that first good-sized one eh?
Secondly, ya, it probably wasn't the best idea to post a pic of a good largemouth dead on a dinner plate. LoL. You've gotta understand that most of the guys who seriously fish for bass (especially the guys in CA!...LoL) are a bunch of bass huggers. I'll admit that I'm one of 'em...but that's just a personal choice that I make. I've got absolutely nothing against someone keeping their catch as long as it's within their state fishing regulations or the regulations for that specific body of water. So don't let the CA and tube guys get ya down. You didn't do anything wrong. LOL. Infact, my dad has a korean secretary woh I've kept some fish for on occasion...but only when she pays me $40 to do it. haha. My dad used to go into his office and tell her...Ya, he caught 60 bass yesterday and let 'em all go...LoL. The idea of me letting fish go just absolutely drove her nuts, so every once in a while she offers me $40 to keep a limit (5) of bass for her. And hey...I'm a poor college student...LoL...you bet I could use an extra $40! I just don't give her anything over 5lbs though. heh. [cool]
Good fish!!

[cool]Hey, Kid, your post has been forwarded to the California Commercial Fisheries Division. I hope you have your commercial license. (kidding of course...Kid)
How have ya been? Ever get your truck and boat?
And, just for the record, I put in a few good words for Leaky on the float tubing board. What a lot of foks don't know about this man is he releases more fish on one trip than most guys catch in a month.
I always hate to see any big fish post turn into a thread on the ethics of C&R. Nice fish, Leaky.

[#800000]If it weren't for this pinched nerve in my lower back, I would have to.....[/#800000]
[#800000] I'm a bass hugger and damned proud of it [].[/#800000]
[#800000] [pirate] I kind of get worried when our breeding stock gets eaten by 2-legged critters. Most Utah waters(except maybe Utah Lake), can't sustain predation on its bigger fish. I been there, done that, and got the pictures too. So, Think twice or three times or bring a camera for when ya catch the big'uns. You may feel bad about it after the fact. [/#800000]

Nice fish! It's nice to see that other people are keeping larger bass, like me! If I can, I always keep my limit of bucketmouth's, the larger the better. Bass have a taste to em that I love, and that ain't a lie! Here's my lagest bass to date, 1 ounce away from state record. All I'm saying about him is he was caught in central utah.

Nice fish Leaky, I've never eaten one but I'll have to give them a try. Catching Largemouth are few and far between for me but I guess that is because I don't fish for them much. What were you using? WH2

Hi wiper,
Because of the scented lure problem, went back to my standard small pearl curly tail on 1/32 oz. jig.

Nice bucket mouth! Have you given poppers a try yet? Thats what I was having sucess on when I headed down there. Theres nothing like the rush you get when they explode on the surface! You don't know what your missing.
Unless your worried bud might think your playing fetch and hunt that popper down[ ] If that's the case I would recommend fishing it hookless[ ]

hustler,
Tried a popper for a short time but didn't have any luck. Only had one old one. Probably need to buy a few and try again. I've been succesfull with Bud so far. He only goes after big sticks, logs and fish. [sly] He is so well trained now he waits for me to catch em and then I hand em to him (mostly chub or gills)and he swims back to the shore and releases em in the shallows. Sometimes I have to help him get em back into the water when he decides to carry them up on the bank. I only let him do this a few times a day just so he can share with my fun. As you guys know, Goldens are real soft mouthed. Bud is no exception.[laugh]

I'm glad to see folks looking at the lighter side of things again!!!!!!! Not to say a healthy discussion or diverse opinion isn't welcome! I enjoy both as long as we can stay polite/mature. [ ]

It's my understanding that regs are set by the DWR to help sustain a fishery. I guess some people don't have enough faith in them being knowledgable in their restrictions. I keep LMs and smallies when I can legally do so and lots more get released then ate. Nice LM.

Nice LM bass leaky, I myself hate the taste of fish with the exception of wiper and cat. So I catch and release. If you like to eat then so be it.

Nice fish Leaky, congratulations. Where did you get her?. Don't ever feel bad about taking a legally harvested fish. If people don't like to see big bass taken, they should go to a RAC meeting and convince the DWR to change the regs. Otherwise, good eating my friend. I am curious though, is that a Pel fish?????

Kayote,
Good hearing from you. Nope, not Pel. Will be looking for one there the next time I go since I'm sure they're there! This one's from Mantua which also have big uns there, bigger than this!!
Gots - thanks for posting. You're a man of your word.
