This was one of our worst fishing days in many, many years. The day started at Panguitch. It has turned over. Water was murky with low visibility...maybe 1 1/2 feet. Between 3 of us we only had 3 bites in 4 hours and no catches. We decided to move onto Otter Creek. It was no better, but had better water clarity...maybe to 3 feet. We baredly avoided the skunk there by bringing in a couple of planters.
Well, we brought in the boat and began to clean up. We were finally to the spot of putting on the boat cover (tan canvas) and it was nowhere to be found. We then realized that we were in such a hurry to fish that we had accidentally left it by the fish cleaning station near the boat ramp. We asked around and 3 different groups of people had seen it there, including the representative from the State Parks. Sadly, none of them were kind enough to collect it and take it to the Park rep building until the owner came to claim it. They all said that a person pulling a Crestliner boat took it, tried it on their boat and drove off with it. I don't know why they would take it. It will not fit their boat. It is not a generic, large boat cover. It is a custom cover with snaps that fit just to the edge of the boat openings to our specific brand, model and length of boat and has a cut out for the kicker and back area. And to think that we left it? Would anyone drive away from the boat parking area at the end of the day without the cover? Obviously not. We were still on the water. Even if so, it is the same as taking a fishfinder, rod, tackle box, or wallet that somebody accidentally leaves behind. They knew it did not belong to them. The manufacturer no longer makes that boat or cover so we will now have to have one custom made. That boat cover cost $500.
I want to give my heartfelt thanks to you, Mr. Scumbag Thief. I hope Karma comes quickly to bite you squarely in the arse! So if any of you know of someone that has a Crestliner boat and fished Otter Creek this Saturday April 21st, and they now are using a horribly fitting boat cover, you now know of their lack of integrity.
