Hey guys, I had a great day at strawberry on Saturday. We headed up there on Friday and got there at about 9:00 p.m. and me and my brother had to set up our tent, while the adults set up their trailor. We stayed up until midnight and then went to sleep. We woke up at about 6:00 a.m and headed down to the lake. We picked up our rental pontoon boat and headed to our fishing spot. Fishing was a little slow but we manageded to get our first bite about 45 minutes after we got on the boat. The fishing really picked up at about 11:00 we started to get bites every 10 minutes. After an hour we headed to a new spot but we had no luck. Then we went to a new spot and then just a minute, when we put down the anchor we had another fish. We stayed there for the rest of day and fishing was great until about 6:30. The biggest fish that we caught was a 20 and a half inches long cuttthroat. My biggest was a 19 inche long rainbow. All together we caught 69 trout, most where rainbows and also one of my friends caught a tagged fish and he won 100$ and a 50$ gift card to sportsmens werehouse and also a knife kit. And most of the fish we caught were caught on power bait, jakes lures, and rapalas. And also while I was fishing with a rapala I had a really hard hit but right when hit it, it broke my line and I checked my drag and it nice and loose. Can anyone tell me what could of happened? Anyway you guys should head down there, there is some awsome fishing there. And here is a picture of the sun rising and me holding a nice little bow.

Very nice. Thats so cool your friend caught one of those tags and got some cash. Any idea what depth most of them were hanging out at? Thanks for the report!

Great report Kid. Glad you had a stellar day fishing. I broke a line because my drag was to tight so I made sure it was way loose and broke it again two more times and the line was new. I think a lot of action on the same line and it just gets wore out and breaks. Hard to say really.

Great job Tristen! Excellent report and I am glad you had such a good time.
Did any of the little tricks help out or did you catch the majority of your fish with other methods?

You are very welcome.
I bet you are excited for the harbor to freeze over this year.
Keep up the good fishing.
while I was fishing with a rapala I had a really hard hit but right when hit it, it broke my line and I checked my drag and it nice and loose.
If you take mono and put slack in it then jerk sharply it will break lots easier than if you put a steady pull on a tight line. The knot is always the weakest part of the rig so my guess is that the fish was racing in fast and hit the lure from the front going the opposite direction from your retrieve and just put too much of a strain on your line and knot in a quick, sharp manner and broke your line. Not much you can do to prevent those type of break-offs. Also unless you have a pretty high-end reel well lubed it often takes just a second for the drag to react and "break free" on a fast running fish.
Congrats on the great day and the tagged fish!

Just read the report on strawberry. Plan to go up on Saturday and have not fished there for years. You mentioned a special technique to catching the fish. Would you mind sharing the secret? I will have a boat and generally troll but equipped for still fishing as well. What marina do you recommend and location if your willing?
