Went to the middle pro today and wow!! Warm temperatures got things moving big time. They were in the runs feeding subsurface all afternoon. 2-3 ft riffles. Including the toad of a brown a attached below. I don't bring a tape but I am guessing 18-19 and FAT. Fish were feeding on anything subsurface. I was trying some new flies that I tied up from Gilbert Rowley's site. The two-tone surveyor and black jack prince. Awesome attractor patterns and easy to tie.
I was catching a lot of stocked rainbows. (rubbed fins) My question is.. why would they stock such a quality stream with an already sustainable wild population. They did the same thing in Iowa. Are they trying to produce stunted fish?

I was thinking maybe the MP tomorrow too! Send me a PM if you do decide to go. I got some stuff to do in the morning, but maybe we could meet up somewhere mid-afternoon.

I bet the emergers are lights out tomorrow! Midges were coming off sporadically, but I think if it stays warm and sunny the next couple days there will be some good hatches. The weird part was that the fish weren't rising with any consistency but I had 5-6 attack my indicator. They were seriously just crazy today lol

I love the Orvis reels!! Been fishing with them for a couple years now and haven't had any problems. Got the battenkill on my grey's streamflex!
I moved to Utah for flyfishing. Of course I am gonna get my ass out to the stream every chance I can lol. Every outting is a learning opportunity!

If your getting indicator eats, try switching it up. If It were summer I would say put on a big nasty dry fly. But in the winter you just may have luck throwing an egg pattern. There have been eggs in the drift for quite sometime. And I don't want to get the thread all fired up on the ethics of egg pattern. If the fish will eat em, Ill feed em.
