You can sure tell summer is in full swing. I was not sure I was even going to try to go this morning but woke up at 5 a.m. and thought what the heck, it ain't raining. Got on the water at 6:30 and for me slow would have been an overstatement. I only managed one short in the grass shallow early. emoScratch Knew something had to give so I went humping. I could see the bass on the humps but could not get them to eat. Cranking, jig and big worm, was tried. I only managed two doing this and they were on the crank. One decent keeper at 2.75 and one short. Moved around a couple more times fishing deep grass edges. Lost one that felt pretty good on a big worm. Little later caught one that was 3.65 lbs also on the big worm. Headed for some creek edges where there was some rock and found one little area that seemed to hold a couple. Caught one right at 4 lbs, lost another that felt just as good and then caught one more that was 2.50 lbs. Try as I did that was it there. Hit one more area of deep grass but could only manage a couple shorts from there.

At that time it was noon and really getting hot. Big boats everywhere along with play boats and jet skies. Decided that was it for me. Never could catch that fifth keeper and had to settle for four keepers weighing about 13lbs. I had thought about fishing the Island Cove Open today but after that slow morning and it getting so blasted hot I was glad I had chickened out. emoRolleyes

Hope they do better then me, as hot as it is out there today I wished them all a great sack having to fish in that heat. emoTongue Jmax
