Open water in the preston area?
#1
As the title says I am just wondering if anyone knows if there is open water around the preston area have't been up that way since last fall, but with this warm winter I am jonesing for my first bass trip [blush] Thinking about hitting onedia for some cold water smallies but I don't want to drive all the way up just to find out its still ice and the bite is slow. Figured that onedia would be the best place to start since those smallies dont mind the cold water, then once the water warms a little more its off to my all time favorite largie lakes. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I haven't been to Oneida, but I did drive past Foster and Glendale today. Foster looked totally open, and I saw one little area of rotten ice chunks with the rest open at Glendale. The water looked pretty murky up by the inlet. I couldn't tell what the clarity was like closer to the dam.

It's a great area with lots of fun places to fish. My wife was with me, so I didn't have a chance to check any more places, but I would imagine all the lakes in the area are pretty similar right now as far as ice goes. I'm going to wait a little longer for them to clear up a bit before I start fishing them I think.

I think I got it right the first time, according to you it's "KOCH'S LAKE" LMAO, man don't even bring up Powell, I keep catching myself thinking I need to get ready for it, and then I'm quickly reminded that I can't make it this year, man I'm gonna miss it. Hope you guys kill it down there this year
