bear river bird refuge
24.5 in

[#00bf00]Man that is so close to 25, but tis a 1/16" short so as you said 24.5 points to open up the season... Sure it will be replaced so probably doesn't hurt to have it fall below 25..[/#00bf00]

Hey, that fish is "monster" enough to win you a spool of Power Pro line.
Well done and I get the impression there will be many more "monster" cats coming from your line. I wouldn't be too surprised to see the first over-30 cat from you.

Lots of time left so watch you rear... the South is coming.

I'll shoot you a pm for an address to get your prize to you.

I was wondering how you got such good photos and held the fish too. Thought you had some pro photog with you. But now I see the tri pod shadow. Tripod, good camera all pre set and either a remote shutter or a timer. Way to go..[Wink]

yes TC Tried to get a sex female photographer to tag along and take my pictures but none of them like the smell of the bait. So I had to settle for a skinny 3 legged helper

I finally caught up with the infamous Ahi and followed him around a bit to sneak a peak on his tactics. He definitely showed me up on the catching fish part of things but I seen what he was using so I still think I have a chance. Just have to get there earlier so he doesn't take my spot! Jk

29 in

[#00bf00]Man you are not waiting for everyone to catch up are you, going for the top early... I do have a problem though I'm seeing 29.5" on this one, so unless you tell me it really was only 29, I will give you 29.5 points on this one... Nice fish John...[/#00bf00]

oh my !! yes Jeff. I took another look and you're right 29.5 those little lines after the number are getting harder to see ever year. I was reading 29.25

[#00bf00]I'm there with ya, tough to see and harder to remember... sucks to get more mature doesn't it... Looks like the south has woke up, now I better get out and try to help ya out on the north to hold off the southern charge... Hope I can figure out how to make'em bite... Later J[/#00bf00]

bear river

27.5

Looks close to 28 in photo Jeff but I checked twice in the field it was a little over 27.75. even had my glasses on LOL[cool]

[#00bf00]John you the cat slayer.... I would have given you the 28 points on that one and perhaps we still should since we go off what the photo shows... I appreciate the honesty on that one, I will put you down at 27.5, but I hope the good karma from the honest deed comes back with a 30 + for ya to replace it with... Thanks John..[/#00bf00]

30"

forgot my tripod so I couldn't hold the fish for picture. but it was 30 when I place it on board. I'll take what ever you see Jeff it will still beat my 28

[#00bf00]Hey John awesome fish, this one was very hard to score because it appears to be 30, but the camera angle throws off our scoring method. We draw a straight line off the ruler mark and project it down. By this method it doesn't make the 30, it's 29.5 points. Since we have used this method for the folks that use the tape measures we need to stay consistent so I'm going to have to call it 29.5.... I struggled with this call, but Ron helped confirm that I was seeing it correctly, so I hope this will be okay... Nice fish!!! J[/#00bf00]

I need to call in a vote from BLK on this one... I have tried to project the length from the scales two ways and I'm seeing about 29 3/4", but just looking at it, it looks like 30" to me... BLK what say ye on this one? For sure you have 29.5, but it is a very hard one to call.. do you have other pictures? I tried to use the end of the board and scale back to tail, but it was cut off so I had to project the point and I may not be as accurate as I should be... Plus projecting the straight line down from 30" to tail seems to just miss it as well... This one is tough to call.. Help....

By the way heck of a fish, it's a monster... Nice job John...

Hate to admit it but I think he's got it. Even if it is a bit short he will just come back with a bigger one in a day or two. You could dock him an inch for poking the cats eye out.[crazy] No one will question your decision Jeff so just go with whatever you see.

If you go with 30 I hope John is okay if we hold the spool of 20# braid that was to go to the first 30 incher for someone who has not already won one??? John took the first spool for the first cat scored over 27 inches and my money is on him to win it all. Still, he has or will probably have the first 30 incher so the spool of braid is rightfully his.

John, let me know your thoughts on this. And please, let up a bit on the catchin' and give some of us other cataholics a chance.[Smile]

Great fish and I wish you the best... up to 30 inches.

BLK if Jeff gives it a 30 I will decline the prize for sure. I'm happy with the line I got for first fish over 27

WOW. A real monster. Bet he gave you some exercise landing him. Are you sure you don't have a bunch of big cats caged up in the water somewhere on that river where you just keep feeding them ? [laugh]
Only kidding of course. Nice, nice Cat [fishon]
