Strawberry (Soldier Creek) 6/27-30 (more video)
#1
Went to Strawberry for some fishing/camping on the 27th through the 30th. Aspen Grove campground finally has the water on, so fished out of that marina.

The wind was, as usual, relentless from late morning to early evening, so we fished mornings and evenings. The fish finder was showing fish all through the column, with a lot of activity between 40-50 feet -- assumed to be Kokanee. We were able to hook up to the salmon periodically, but had more trouble than usual getting them into the boat. We'd get them within 10-15 feet of the boat and they'd throw the hook. We did manage to boat a few nice ones, and they tasted delicious while camping.

The planter rainbows are super active. They could be found throughout the water column -- even down in the 40-50 ft Kokanee range, and would often take a dodger/squid combo on the drop or while trolling. If we didn't have a solid bite for 20-30 minutes, we'd check the lines to see if we were relocating a planter.

I threw the Water Wolf on the line for a while during a dry spell where we could see fish on the finder, and sure enough, they were there. We just couldn't get them interested enough to aggressively bite. Turns out the dodger was rolling over some of the time, probably due to the bend I had in it.
