Hyrum ice, any luck

If you can find them on Hyrum, keep moving if you aren't on them, anyway they will be much bigger than Newton... What I've been wondering is what happened to the trout at Hyrum this year?  I've never seen such a slow year for trout out of that pond... What are the rest of you finding?  I used to love catching the 14" through the ice, but not this year... Later Jeff

 They started planting 2 years ago at Hyrum in Nov not before nor after. They gave me the too many birds eating the planters excuse. I talked with an officer about how many older gentlemen paid for their license , boat reg , park pass, gas etc and they catch very few trout for their effort and expense. The response was about the birds and how Hyrum would be Northern Utahs  bass destination.  I told him that was a poor response. I did catch some of the largest and the largest trout I have ever caught at Hyrum last year but it was very early in the year and not many after that. I only target trout early in the year but still catch quite a few  while perch and bluegill fishing but not last year and I suspect the same this year.

I thought Hyrum was one of their crowd pleaser reservoirs where they would plant a lot of bows knowing lots of fishing pressure would be looking for them.... Sad if they changed that plan so quickly... They used to plant a lot of small fish in the spring and by ice season, they would be nice keepers... Now if they are planting in November they must not be planting very many fish, I sure didn't catch the ton i used to after they planted... Anyway it's too bad, I liked to be able to catch some nice bows... but there are other places to find them... They may be giving me more reasons to not renew my park pass and go to Idaho instead...
