Yep I probably was one of those youngsters, even though the majority of my time near that lake used to be sledding on the giant hills they carved up when they rebuilt the dam. It turns out I was mistaken about the identity on one of the fish that used to be or still might be in Holmes Creek. What I thought were pumpkinseed are actually redear sunfish(or shellcrackers)! In the 90's I must have caught several readears there that were close to 1 lb. I probably caught the state record and didn't even know it! I actually found a record of 680 being stocked in 59' http://nas.er.usgs.gov/queries/SpecimenV...enID=44561. So they had survived for over 30 years in there, but I don't think they survived the dam being rebuilt. I'd be interested to know if anyone has caught any redears recently, if not then I think they should be restocked.
