take your squash and cucumbers and wrap them in a wet paper towl for a couple days then when they germinate and start to grow, take the seedling and plant them. this saves alot of effort and energy by the plant. they dont have to push the dirt out of the way it cuts the germination time in half and gets a head start on things. I had a frost a couple years ago and lost my squash and didnt think that I would get any and a guy told me about this and saved my season.
