I count any braided tippet as a gimmick. You pay extra for the process that went into the production... but is it really necessary? I have landed 70 lb fish on 8 lb. test line with spinning gear and the resistance isn't anywhere near on the drag of a fly reel unless you put them on the reel with a lot of tension. I keep it simple. Tippet is for nice lay outs on dries and monofilament is good for nymphing. Why pay a bunch to do what can be done with standard tippet on the surface and mono sub-surface?
