Decided to go fishing after we got home from the gym. Called Pete and he was rarin to go. Put in about 11:30 and went looking for baitfish. Saw a few gulls working and moved under them to find tons of bait and lots of fish under.
Pete was showing off again and had 4 fish in the boat before I got going. Of course 1 was a DRUM, lol.

Our normal goto baits were pretty slow today, so Pete was experimenting and found a big lipped jerk bait fished over the bait schools was the ticket. After he caught 3 very quickly I finally got the message and dug out my jerkbait box and joined the party. Things started to really slow down about 3:30. The bait and fish were still there, just not biting.

I think we got about 15 LM and 4-5 drum. Pete caught most of the bass and most of the drum. Water temp was 47 and all fish caught in 20-24' of water. I figured the cold spell had moved the shallow fish out deeper so we didn't try the shallows at all. I did manage to lose the big fish of the day at the boat, it looked to be in the 5# + range emoBang All fish released for another day.

Regards, Labman
