KYBoy, Nicajack, Crappie and Bass, 3/2/12, Cameron

Hit the Nick about 7:30 with Cameron this morning, there was no wind so we ran to our first spot a sunken tree in about ' 8 foot of water. We tried casting and vertical fishing it for about 20 minutes with out a bite. We moved to a couple of docks we fish and here also not a bite. With no wind we started exploring around the bay casting the floating fly rigs as we went. We fished all across an area we now has a bunch of stumps and had only two takers a 10 1/2" Blacknoise crappie and a 10" bass. We started back up river toward the boat ramp and stopped at a couple of dock we had never fished by now there was a little wind and it seemed that the current had picked up some. We where having trouble getting the 1/32 jigs down deep enough to fish the dock. I swiched to a 1/16 and shot the jig back under the second corner of the dock and let it sink to a count of 4 and I felt a good bump and set the hook. This fish ran me around a post and i finally got it out and in the net it was a fat black crappie about 12 ". We fished this dock from every angle and not another bite so it was time to move on. We ran back into a Slough off the main river and just as we get to some blow downs Cameron said do you hear that I told him it was the wind in the trees on the top of the mountain. Little did we know it was the stomer that hit Island cover 20 minutes later. The wind was really picking up and we had one more dock in mind to fish when we got there the wind was really honking. When we where close enough cameron shot his jig to a inside cornewr and the current pulled it back under the dock and he set the hook this was a really good fish but it pulled off before we could get it in the boat. cameron shot right back and again he is hit this time he got it to the net it was a 12' white crappie. I tied the boat to the walk way so we could really pick this dock apart. i shot my jig up river under the dock and let it sink all the way to the bottom and started to retrieve when it gets slammed i set the hook and can not do a thing with this fish after a short fight it broke off. they way if fought I think it was one of Drum Kings pets. We fished about 20 more mionutes then called it a day. We caught a total of 3 crappie, 2 bass and 1 bluegill. this came on BG Pearl white and a Red and Balck i cannt remeber the name of. I hope everyone in the Harrison Bay area are OK and will send up a prayer for them tonight. If you fish the Tourney in the morning please be save the wind is going to blow and good luck. I will be at Camerons helping him cut up a couple of trees that fell in the storm that hit Tifftona this evening and checking out his roof.
