Honestly though, we often do just fine with black wooly buggers/leeches (I prefer a size 8) in varying weights, smaller crawfish patterns, and red san juan worms. One of those three usually does the trick. In the end I think it's more about the technique/presentation than the fly, but getting both spot on never hurts.
