The ice is not great, maybe tomorrow it will be a little better, I wouldn't take any little kids. Not sure where guys are finding 7", likely at the outlet. F&G told us the hatchery was no good to fish as did my friends who tried to get on the county side which was no good as well to walk on. Staleys was being fished as was the area north of county but close to shore. We fished state, fishing was slow but ok. Ice was 2 or 3 soft inches with a crack going from mid jetty arching around to the rocks past the boat ramp. If you stood too close to other fat people like me it settled. Should be ok tomorrow just be careful. About 6 other parties today. Good luck if you head out, don't even try West of the jetty, the ice is thinner over there than the east. I tested it with the spud bar and easily was breaking thru with minimal effort. Had one pucker moment in 6 FOW I was on 1" of ice where just behind me it was 2.5", in the dark. Not smart. That was west of the rock jetty.
Where the ice looks choppy on east and west of the jetty I found to be a little stronger actually than where it seemed flatter. And, some slush is found between the ice and floor suspended in some areas.
I would not get to adventurous the ice is not super great, at least where we were.
