DC walleye

Picked up this male on Saturday morning at DC, my personal best.
Was just under 32 inches and weighed in at 12.1 lbs.

When are you free?

What type of fishing do you do? Bank, boat, or tube?

Bank fishing I get most of them along the rocky shore lines, 15ft or less from the shore. Use mostly suspending jerk baits.

There are some good spots along the shoreline to catch walleye for most of the summer and it looks like you have it figured out.

I was trying to see if Outfishing wanted to go out and work the eyes over sometime soon so that he can enjoy them too.

I am free most weeknights and Saturdays. I have a 16 foot boat I fish from mostly. Rarely do any bank fishing. I like to troll for trout in DC. I have caught several walleye there on DC when targeting trout.

A big ol female like that has pretty much served her purpose over the years. She is taking more out of the system than returning. Good on you - hope you have a mount of her made !!

As to how to catch walleye at DC, from the shore, you need to fish it early in the day and late in the evening. They begin to roam the shoreline at Dawn and Dusk. You can throw cranks, we have been having the greatest success the past few years with small swimbaits, 3-4 inchers, on 1/4oz hds. From shore, cast at a 30-45 degree angle and swim the bait back at a slow steady pace. Just keep working up and down a shoreline. best will be the gravel/small rock rubble shorelines. Rainbow bay is accessible from shore and offers some pretty good wading opportunities also. Spawn is over and they will be putting on the feedbag to recover from the spawn Go for it !!!
