Cat on a lure
#1
Fished UL every day this week and most of last week. Same old same old... lots of cats all in the mid-20 inch size. Most of the fish are healthy and give a good account of themselves on the end of a line. As mentioned by Ice Sled in another post, some of the males look like not much more than a big head with a body you would not want to touch. Some of them look so bad I am surprised they are still alive. The females are big, fat, and strong... really healthy looking.

Water continues to drop at Lincoln. I never saw 3 ft. in the channel today, the average depth in channel was around 2.7 ft. Water "looks" much better and I did not see any blue goo. One boat out today waterskiing???

Caught a cat on a lure today... a big Rapala wb imitation. Tried it out of boredom just to see if I could find any takers. Tagged one big cat with a vicious strike but only about a 27 incher. Thought I had a new super-duper lure but not so, dragged it around for another hour and never had a bump.

Fishing has been good the past week until the sun get too hot. The afternoon t-storms prevent a night shift for now. Maybe next week.

Fish on.

I bought a Rapala that has a sliver body with blue on the top. Is that a good one to imitate white bass?

I was fishing the channel today. Had to leave at 9:15 due to the heat; by then it was up to 83 degrees. What's your temperature limit?

The older I get the more I would rather be considered a good man than a good fisherman.

I can handle 80-85 if the wind is blowing. If not I will be packing up pretty soon.

That blue and silver is my go to in any body of water. For example see the fish caught below. And my profile picture those wipers were all taken on the blue and white/silver x rap

You might have found the "super-duper lure," if you drag it around long enough! You might like the size distribution, and you don't have to wear out your arms on all those mid 20's cats. Kinda takes some of the fun out though[Wink]

I'm glad you've at least been getting out after them!

[#0000FF]Okay. If you are getting into "washing lures" (trolling) I ain't gettin' in your boat again.[/#0000FF]

[#0000FF]I don't like to troll, but I do chunk and wind crankbaits a lot...usually for species other than cats. But those silly kitties just don't seem to understand the hardware ain't meant for them.[/#0000FF]

[#0000FF]I have caught lots of cats in both Willard and Utah Lake on various crankbaits. See pic. I also get a lot of them on the little jigs I fish for whities.

Nice fish! I think I bought size 5; is that good or too small.
