Quick Draw Rod Holders and Rod Trees
#1
A few fellow tanglers on the board have noticed my rod holders in my post pics and videos and have asked me to put something together on them.  While I originally made them for my float tube fishing a couple of boaters have adapted them for specialized fishing...especially vertical jigging.

Here's the PDF file I just finished.  Bear in mind there are a bajillion different ways you can rig and install these things.  If anyone wants to make and try some I have a lot of the component parts already and would be glad to help fab some for your particular setups.

Hey Pat,
I have totally loved these rod holders and everyone that sees me using them has wanted some... You probably should have marketed that design it's really a good one... Thanks for sharing it with me years ago, it's my favorite for sure... Thanks Pat... Later J

Yep, really good design... amazing how they will hold a big ole cat pullin like a draft horse as long as the pull is not in line with the rod axis... I especially like them for my ice fishing rod holder... I got a new tool during the construction project that I think will make it much easier to build those rod holders so I'm going to put some more together when I get a chance... Thanks again... Jeff

Thanks for the great write up, Pat.

We agree with Jeff - we have both the ice and float tube versions, and both work very well.

On the float tube having extra places to set things such as your net is so helpful while you're dealing with your catch is very handy.

The ice rod holder is a great way to have your rod elevated and easy to grab quickly. They set up easy and also stow easily in your sled.
