Porcupine 4/26/04
#1
I went to Porcupine after work today for some R&R. Plenty of fishing not much catching. I stayed a couple of hours. The Lake is almost full. About six feet from spilling. The water was clear and cool. I tried a few flies behind a bubble, several kind of spinners, a couple of spoons and a silver and blue Rattle Trap. I was fishing from the dam.

The only hit I had was on the Rattle Trap! I think it was a big rainbow. I hooked it about 15 ft from the shore. As soon as it knew it was hooked it leaped out of the water, then headed for the bank and jumped again, then headed back out and jumped again. That's when the hook came out. It jumped twice more after the hook came out and then was gone. I was great fun to say the least. It looked to be one of the bigger fish I have hooked at Porcupine in the last couple of years. Just guessing I'd say it was in the 20" range.

Looks like the water has come up since I was up there last about 3-4 weeks ago. I trolled for several hours and didn't catch anything.

Thanks for the update. That place sure has been slow as of late. Too bad you couldn't land that nice fish. Good luck on your next trip out.
