My wife and I and the 4 year old went up to scolfield today with some friends, it was a trip that had been planned for a while and we didn't want to bail on them, so we missed out on the perch party. Wished we could have been there though it sounded like it was a lot of fun. We got to scolfield about 9:00 and fished until about 12:45 just off the highway north of the dam. We used mealworms on a sz 12 hook, no jigs or ice flies, we'd string the worm right up the hook and up the line a bit so it looked like a worm just drifting in the water. It worked good, we landed 13 fish, all but three were between 12 and 15 inches, all rainbows. It was a beautiful morning, sun out the whole time. My boy landed three of them and spent the rest of the time tubing, and the wife caught the biggest one, was a lot of fun.

Welcome Fish'ndaddy- and thanks for the report...
I will be taking 8-10 boys to the Scout Camp this weekend and was hoping you might tell me how the ice and snow conditions were to be able to snowmobile our fishing gear across the lake from the highway?
Also I'm happy to hear how your meal worm technique worked and was wondering if you had seen or heard of any other secrets that might make for a positive fishing experience for the scouts?
Got to keep the young'ens happy...PB

There was about 10 inches of frozen slush and then a small layer of water on top of the ice. Snowmobiles were driving on it while I was there so I don't think it would be a problem.
