I'm no expert on who can do sturgeon mounts but I would think any good taxidermist should be able to help you. Just call some of the local taxidermist and ask them. I'm sure a few of the guys can give you some more ideas, I even remember a couple of members that said they could do fish mounts. Anyway, good luck, I hope you catch some big ones. WH2

If you are fishing The Columbia River with an experienced guide, you should catch plenty of sturgeon. I hope to make it up to The Columbia River one of these years and have a chance for a 10+ footer, until then I will have to be content with the 6 & 7 footers (with the chance of an 8 footer) in The Snake River. Keep us posted on how much a mount costs, and the quality of it.

There are numerous taxidermists in the Columbia River area who specialize in sturgeon reproductions. You can literally order one while there to either pick up in the future, or have it shipped.
Some even carrry a "stock" of replicas.
Good luck!!!

Try calling Jerry Chivers. He does exclusive reproductions. He does a fantastic job. You can see some of his mounts in Sportsmans Warehouse. He has done mounts for me and some of my fishn' buddies. If he doesn't do sturgeon, I'm sure he could tell you who does. Jerry Chivers - (801) 466-1944. Give him a call.

If you have time the Fish Hatchery at Bonneville Dam has a full pond of sturgeon - they usually have a 12 footer that is worth seeing - also the main viewing windows for the fish viewing is sure worth the time.

Here is a link to the fish counts on the Columbia - if you are after the large sturgeon then go when the shad run is at its peak.

One last point is boat safty - if you have never fished in heavy current (like below Bonneville) let alone anchor - or even retrieve your anchor - PLEASE use a guide - the Columbia doen't forgive.

Have a great trip and start doing some arm exercises....

[Smile]hey lundman thanks for the information. my brother is taking me out on the columbia river with the same guide that he had the last time he was there. he said that he wants to take me to the bonneville dam area that you mentioned and to see the fish ladders and watch the salmon going up it too. it should be a great trip one to remember.
thanks again for the information trfishin
