I'll be up on the pond today testing my new rig, so if you're in the neighborhood maybe I'll see or meet a few of you. I have yet to come across one of them "yellow or white BFT identifiers" (hint - hint) but we'll be in a green / white Starcraft aluminum boat. I have not acquired a radio either so my communication is somewhat limited. Good luck to all the fisherpeople on what promises to be an excellent weekend weatherwise.

[black]Good Luck. The fishing on Willard should pick up. Polokid and I went out yesterday and did so-so. We scratched up 6 wipers and one walleye 23-1/2" long. The water temps were a cool 51-52 deg and the air temp never warmed up especially with that breeze.[/black]

[black]When we were loading the boat on the trailer, I saw a very nice crappie and a wiper caught right in the marina next to the ramp. Today and tomorrow should be good. Guess its time to go combat fish and drag a bobber for some slabs in the marina.[/black]

We were out there today and saw several Starcrafts, what area were you fishing? We were in an old white Starcraft with both the main and kicker being Mercury's. WH2

Hey there Aquaman,
It was nice to meet you at Willard yesterday. If it wasn't for your hat, I would not have known you were a BFT'er. Where did you get that stylish Chapeau ? Are you in possesion of any of those stickers or patches ?
My Willard report: The new refit of the pontoon boat(with trolling motor) worked out great ! I went to thesouth west corner an anchored in the only place that had fish show up on my finder. I proceeded to throw everything including the kitchen sink. I only got a couple of close calls or scares - but nothing wanted to play too much. But all in all, it was a great day on the water and fishing was fantastic - too bad the catching wasn't.
BTW - I was scanning all day and never really heard anything on channel 12. Was noone on the radio, or was I just out of range ?

We fished the area from the lightpost to the feed lot and along the south jetty. There were quite a few folks out yesterday enjoying the beautiful weather. I saw another Starcraft as I was launching out of the north marina (around 7:45am) - would that have been you guys?

I'm sure I saw your boat there yesterday but we did not launch until 1pm or so. We fished the same areas that you listed. We fished East of the feedlot around the big power poles for the last two hours of the day yesterday. There was another white Starcraft out there yesterday that looked like mine so that might have been who you saw. WH2

TD, thanks for your response and gracious offer to provide me with a decal; however, Aquaman has offered to provide me with one at this point. I can help advertise our cause to increase enrollment on the site by displaying the logo on my boat. I hope to see you out on the water soon.

Bloodhound, be sure you use channel 12-0 and not 12-1.
Some folks have made that mistake before.

[unimpressed] Rut Roh ! I didn't know that. I wonder now which one I was monitoring ? Anyone know the usual default on those small radios ? I just turn it on and go to number 12 or set it to scan all channels(which really doesnt work well if you want to hear the whole transmission). Hmmm... I got more stuff to figure out now ! Any more hints thereon would be appreciated ! Thanx !

Bloodhound,
I was the tuber who came down by you late afternoon. We chatted a bit and then I headed back along the East dike and you came motoring past me on your return to the marina.
I don't have any BFT stuff so you wouldn't have known that I check this site.
Anyway, you've got quite the set up.

I was out on Saturday. Fished the south side from 1-6. I was in the pontoon fly fishing with another guy in a float tube. We had quite a few boats buzz us but I didn't know if any of you were BFTer's. Good day, yes, it was a good day.

Hey there Stout Trout !
Nice to meet you ! You were actually the only person I talked with that had any success at all. Did you find a the cleaning station at the South marina there or did you use a flat rock somewhere ? I saw that cleaning station when I left and thought of you. Did you get to cook them fish up yet ?
The maiden voyage of the vessel worked out great and I am now making the small adjustments that I discovered could use some improvements.
I also have a float tube that I use mostly for some of the more small remote lakes, and Tubedude has been helping me remodel it so as to be more versatile. Perhaps, one of these days(I fish a lot) when the lakes ice off, you and I could hook up and go to one of them for some quality floating and fishing(I also, and mostly, fly fish small streams and rivers) - till then, I will be fishing harware on my toon or in my tin boat on the big still waters that are more accessible. If it's fishing, It's all good to me !

Hey Icthys, I saw you and that other tuber out there Saturday afternoon. I came with my tube about 5:00 pm, and launced a little west of you. I stayed until about 1/2 hour after dark. The wiper bite really turned on about 1/2 hour before sunset until dark. Great fun!

Well dang it all, I knew I should have stayed. I left cause I had forgot to bring the sunscreen and I was already fried, another few hours and I would have been done!
I'd like to get out next week, I hope I hope.

Bloodhound,
I ended up just finding a rock and did my work. I haven't filleted many wipers, but by the last one (I kept 3 fish) I was in a groove.
I took them home and finished cleaning up the fillets. I gave some to my parents because my wife won't allow me to cook fish in the the house. My parents loved them... and have saved some for me to try. I still haven't tasted them...
I felt a little awkward when people where asking me how I was doing because I felt like it was a pretty productive day..but I know not everyone was having success.
It's interesting to hear that it turned on for folks who stayed until dark. That has been my general experience. Fishing for wipers from 4pm to dark has been the most productive time for me.
