sweet fish, almost as big as the one I caught last year.

Not always. It depends on how long the nets are set, and how long the fish is trapped in the net. Other factors play into it as well -- how was the fish caught in the net (by it's teeth, gills, fins, etc.).

My personal suspicions are that this particular fish is dead.

Maybe someone should email Bishop Wiley and ask him.
