Not really. Not yet. Just wanted to share a pic or two from a winter past where I yanked some perch up through the ice formed atop our pool cover. Even needed the net on one of 'em. Won't be long now.
Enjoy a happy Turkey Day. Then get your gear ready.

Ok....You might need to explain this picture. I am not sure where to begin asking questions. Let's start with why do you have perch in your pool?? Looks cool!! You had me fooled with the post, I wish we had some good perch fishing to do.

LOL. Nice pool perch! What do they taste like? Little bit of a chlorine undertone with a nice algaecide finish? [cool]

Yup - reeled 'em in ya did with the title.
It's like some bozo going posting a thread about "THE BOILS ARE ON" but they're talking 'gills at Mantua, not the Wipers the Willard chaser's so feverishly sought! [:p]
Yeah - guess I might as well go ahead a tie the rope around that last tarp on the boat. Don't think the 'ol girls going out for a while now! Coworker was trying to convince me I should just use my Jon boat AS a sled, guess that could help with young ice - if it cracks, ya just float - in place.
Got my jigs sorted, me thinks it's time to pick up that auger, and duct tape a crate to the old kids sled, and get ready.
Thinking also along the lines of a pair of DI kids skis, and a crate-bench-bucket holder contraption. PVC of course....maybe a touch of plywood.
So much for pitching to the Mrs how I HAD to go fishing so much in the fall, cuz soon I couldn't take the boat out. Whole new venue to obliterate time. But hopefully haul in some fishies in the process!
I can say "on Wyllie's Pond" the water is hard. I haven't tried a weight test, but the surface is shiny, and dang-it! I've got leaves that need scooping! Maybe a little barbless practice, and auger test'd be in order.
Do you toss a log in your pool like the new-Englander's? Help alleviate freeze stress - so I hear.
