Rockport
#1
Hi Guys,
We're taking a bunch of Herriman Scouts up to Rockport in the AM (Saturday) and since we're from Sanpete, not really familiar with that pond. If anyone has any information on the ice fishing situation it would be appreciated. Thanks

Little info on Otter Creek, we were down there yesterday, Fishing was slow, fished the south end. Ice out from the edges 10 -15' was 4 to 5". lots of open water, was a tad scary getting off. No way would a put 4 wheeler on it. If we don't get a good week or so of hard freeze, I'd say start getting your boat ready. People were bank fishing west of the Eagles Nest.

[Smile]I was at Rockport today about noon to 4:00pm.
The edges are solid where I entered on the East side (state park), and the ice was a solid 9 inches thick out a few hundred yards from shore where I fished.

The rest of the shoreline looked good, but check with a few test holes if in doubt with the scouts. There was plenty of good access parking on the West side by the bathrooms.

Had quite a bit of action with the trout bite, but no perch action.

Recommend targeting trout with standard rat finkee or other small jig on a 12" dropper line from a kastmaster for weight, attraction. I used worms to tip the jig.

I got most bites from fish suspended 12 to 20 feet under the ice in about 50 feet of water. Got the biggest right on the bottom looking for perch, but it was the only one.

Good Luck! Hope you get the Scouts into some fish.

Got up there with the scouts around 9am, got everybody set up, weather was nice, 30's a little wind, not bad. Ice is 12 to 14" . Caught a few fish, marked a lot at times on the vex, not really fast enough to keep the kids interest up, but seemed they had a good time.
