Sulphur Creek Derby Winners
#1
Well I think everyone was a winner with the first Sulphur Creek Challenge Fishing Derby. I personally had a great time and hope everyone else did as well. I especially want to thank the BFT members that came out to support us and it was great meeting some of you guys. Special thanks to Fullmoonfishin, FOD, and Beast84806 for your donations. I would be happy to fish with any of you anytime. The winning fish came in at 17 7/8. Here are some pictures of our winners. Congrats to Fisher for winning it all at 9 years old. I guess I need to get some fishing tips from some of these younger fisherman. Thanks again to everyone and we look forward to next year!

How much was the top prize he won? What were the payouts?

Mission definitely accomplished, the softball girls and I had a blast and I hope all the fisherman did as well. The first place fish won $690, second place was $460, and third was $230. The 50/50 raffle winner took home I believe $165. All the guys I met from this site that were there were awesome. Hope to see a lot more of you out there next year. 2 of the top 3 fish were people that came from Utah. First and third place. If anyone ever gets a chance to meet up with Fullmoonfishin and FOD those guys are class acts and great guys. Thanks again to everyone.

Its amazing fish were caught. Congratulations to the lucky 9 years old. Glad to see a kid win it over an adult.

Fished that tourney and gave up. 10 fish in 3 years is pretty pathetic [:/]

Everyone I had talked to had at least caught fish. I have never personally fished that lake and been skunked. This derby was nothing like the old one, there is a lot less people. I even talked to some folks that had got into the elusive "eyes" out there. Hope we can get you to come back in the future.

Perchski thanks man good times wish my 5 yr old was feeling better but he had to leave the tourny he stayed as long as he could about 3 pukes on the ice and he was back to the hotel thanks CrazyCanuk for taking care of him. Fishing was so so its more are fault we had plenty of bites but only a couple made it through the hole but if every tournament was about winning I would never go its about the people hanging out with friends and family. It was a good time and will do it next year thanks Evanston THUNDER you young ladies were awesome and if you play like you ladies put on the tourny all I can say is WOW! Good luck any think we can help with let me know I gave your wife my card but would love to do it again. Thanks again it was a good time and thanks FOD for a good weekend lets do it again next weekend and Perchski when ever your ready your welcome.

Yea perchski, thank the girls for dragging our butts all over the ice. We are happy to be a part of anything that involves kids and helps keep them out of trouble. Hit
Me up anytime you want, we'll put a hurting on some fish. That was the first time me or fullmoon have fished that lake... looks like a little pre fishing would have been a good idea. Al least we caught a buzz[pirate]
And thanks again fullmoon you are a class act.[Wink]

How did the walleye, bass, and suckers fair in to the derby? any numbers of any of the three?

There were Walleye caught, I didn't see a lot of them but some guys had a few. I think those that really got into them weren't talking about it much. I didn't hear of any bass coming out, and to my surprise very few suckers. The suckers must be dying off out there. There were a lot of trout caught though, bows and cutts mostly.

Sounds like a good time, I'll have to make an effort to get up there for next years tourney.

Did anyone else notice how much warmer the winning kid looked holding the cash versus holding his catch - even without his coat in the cash picture......[Smile] Nice work kiddo!!

nice job for the little fella. I did not get to go. had a little union ice derby at echo with a bunch of guys from work.
19" rainbow took the cake. Most of the bows averaged 16 to18 inches. Good times.
