Had to take the trailer in to Hyde's Auto for tires & have a leaf spring repaired so Alan had his son, Michael , to drop me off at Wolftever so he could work on it. They are great guys who are both fishermen & shoot straight with you & do great work. Got to the ramp about 10;30 & headed up the creek. Found a channel bank with the catching the morning sun & got 3 keepers on a jig about 8' deep. Moved to the point next to it & got a slick on a trap. Headed out to the lake & started hitting south facing sloughs looking for 50* + water. Got nothing in the 1st 2 sloughs, but the 3rd was the charm. heading in I graphed bait til I got shallower than 7'. Backed off & looked for banks with at least 7' within a cast of the bank, & they were there. 1st bank had a 4.3 & then a 3.5 on the Red Eye Shad. Turned around & slowed down with a chatterbait & one slammed it. After a great fight that took me around the Triton twice, landed a 6.95#. Found another similar bank right before I headed in & had a 5.8 nail the Red Eye. Also had a TARP crappie that hit the Red Eye along a mudline that the wind had made. Ended with 7 keepers, best 5 went 23.75#. Probably my PB by myself on the Chick.
