Put in at CFP about 9:00 to see if we could find Pete a big Striper. Ran out and found some gulls working and set up shop under them. Not much happening. Picked up a few keeper LM fairly deep on crankbait, twister grub, and bucktails. Gulls slowed and then quit totally. We decided if we couldn't find any Stripers we would try for Bass.

Pete got and caught a Drum, then a Channel Cat, and then a Flathead Cat. I explained that we were fishing for Bass and to get busy and fish for the right kind of fish. He did a little better and then his confusion rubbed off on me and I caught a good Drum that I was sure was a Striper emoBang and then a good Crappie. emoScratch

Anyway we had 11 keeper LM with the 2 best at 3 3/4 lbs. Nothing large, but enough size to give the string good pull. All the Bass were caught 16-20 ft of water. We tried for the shallow bite in the same area others had some good fish a couple days earlier, but nothing happening. Think that cold nite moved them deeper.

No Stripers today, but had fun, oh yes Pete caught a fresh water Mussell that must have weighed 4# looked like a football. I didn't know they grew that big. We may have to change his handle to "Trashman" emoPoke

All fish released for another day. Saw TnDoe at the ramp when we were taking out at 3:00. I gave her a "tip" on where to find the giant mussells.

Regards, Labman
