I have recently purchased a Redington and I enjoy it. Though I am a novice when it comes to fly fishing.

You can't go wrong with a Redington combo. That's what I started with and fished it for almost ten years.

I have the Redington too. I've been using it for a few months now and I have no complaints.

Ive had a couple crosswaters and liked them. I know a couple guides use them as rentals cause they are a good for all levels and inexpensive. Dont know much about orvis rods.

Redinton make a great Rod and Im as big Redington fan but the Orvis Encounter is a better rod than the Cross water. I will say for the the money with the Crosswater your going to get the most bang for your buck but personally If you going Redington id go for the CT its only 20 bucks more than the Crosswater.

I am not a newbie and maybe that is a problem but I would definitely go with the Orvis. So many of my clients struggle with the Crosswater.. Not a Redington fan so please take this with a grain of salt.
Allen Fly Fishing, has packaged deals all the time.

Orvis all day! I have the crosswater and it's decent... It will catch fish but the orvis will cast smother and has a little more backbone. My crosswater just sits on my closet now %90 of the time.
