Has anyone been by Chesterfield Reservoir in the last little while? Wondering if there is any open water yet.

Has been open at least three weeks. Water off color. Slow fishing. Will be drained by August 15th.

I think he means that due to there not being any water to fill the lake this year, it will all be gone by August to be used for irrigation purposes.

I checked the Fish and Game website and there are no news releases regarding Chesterfield for this year, usually we would not see a salvage fishery until close to the time it is getting very low. I wouldn't expect to see that happen until July 1st or mid June at the earliest. When it happens it will be on a news release on the IDFG website.

I contacted fish and game about this . That salvage report is from 2007.

We fished Chesterfield on Friday 4/24 and happened to run into the F&G officer at the dock. I asked him about the potential for the reservoir to empty this year and he was under the impression that there was an agreement in place to leave enough water to sustain fish populations.

Fishing was fair. We caught a dozen or so 12-15 inchers between 9am and noon. Nothing big this trip.
