Tubin willard
#1
Anyone have any tips for tubin willard? Want to take the new tube out this afternoon and break her in.

[#0000FF]Saturday afternoon during nice weather is not a good time to launch a new float tube on Willard. But if you just want to get the feel of it and not get harassed by the power squadron you have options.

Are you planning to fish too? For what species?

Right now most of the fishing for wipers and walleyes is a long boat ride from the launch ramps. But you can still find a stray fish from time to time out of either the north or south marinas. Try throwing an assortment of rattling crank baits in shad colors...or fire tiger. For plastics, throw small tubes or twisters in white or pearl. Might get a bonus crappie or smallmouth...or catfish too.

If you want free access...but with a short hike up over the dike...go to the southwest corner. Often some good fishing close to shore. See the maps.

Thanks TD, I do plan to fish and was planning on the south west corner. As far as species I will be happy for what ever I can get willard is kinda my unicorn. I can't catch fish there consistently to save my life.

Nor can anyone else, really. Some are better than others, but anybody who says he can guarantee caught fish at Willard is a better liar than I am.

On a different post someone mentioned that the road to the south dike is now closed for dike work. They even posted a picture.
