I am headed to the Green River below the gorge with buddy in drift boat Thursday and we will be using spinning gear.
Any suggestions of tube jig colors and weight. Any suggestions of Rapalas, Cranks size and color?
In the past what has worked is either a dark pumpkin tube with a green cast, 1/8 oz or a rainbow both 3 inch or 4 inch. Also rainbow rapalas?
Always like to throw the tackle store at them.

I was there a week ago and the best lure for everyone in our group was by far a blue and white countdown rapala. ( and it has always been the best for me over the last 45 years.

When I used to fish it about 30 years ago 1/8 oz. marabou jigs in black or ginger would work wonders. That was when there were alot more rainbows though. Now that those pesky browns are overrunning the river perhaps minnow immitating jigs and crankbaits may work better.

I was there with my son's scout group a few years ago. While we picked up rafts from the outfitter there, I went into the tackle shop and asked what was working that week. They steered me towards some marabou jigs in a mustard brown. I bought a few and my son and I caught almost as many fish as the rest of the group combined.
My advice is to check in with the tackle shop. They will likely know just what you should use, and have it in stock.

Marabou jigs in browns, black, greens, and combos are good. 1/16 or 1/8 oz. You can also use the same flies that the fly fisherman are using, nymps and streamers, just use a split shot, drop shot, or sand bag weight in front. A sand bag rig with the sinker on a dropper above the fly is deadly and allows you to use two flies and fish the small nymphs and San Juan worms that alot of the fly fishers use. Check with the guys at Fish Tech for patterns and for the Sand bags. You can make your own using parachute cord, strip out the center, put #10 or 12 shot in the bag and heat seal by using a pair of needle nose pliers to hold the end of the bag, flame with a lighter, add the shot and flame the other end. Attach to your rig by using a plain ol snap swivel, run the open end of the snap through the cord below the heat seal. Very snagless !!!
