Has anyone fished at Brownlee recently. I want to know if its worth the drive from Vancouver to camp at Woodhead this weekend. Please reply if you fished there not long ago.

Crappie running 9" to 10".

They are 30' to 50' deep.

If you find a school that wants to bite you can do well.

I found the Crappie fishing very good 2 weeks ago, however there small 9- 11 inches but plentiful. Just make sure you are slow rolling and dropping fast.

Was at Woodhead all last week, crappie bite is there, found a few good places, but ended up just fishing the pipe at the campground most the time from a boat. There is a ugly algae mat floating around in places and made it tough to fish them spots, so just fish cleaner water. As always tons of bass and we also caught several cats on jigs. Oxbow had good action for cats and bass and water was much nicer.

Fished the south end around Morgan creek and Rock creek yesterday. Fishing was sperty. Ended up with 2 buckets of 10 inchers. Had a few doubles at times and then stretches with no fish. Lots of algae in the water and that stinky blue algae in a few places. Should clear up some as the cooler weather sets in.

Thinking I might go back again this Thursday. See if I can't do a little better and maybe do some exploring.

I fished it Sunday afternoon but only for channel catfish, pulled in 3 for around 20 lbs. Didn't go crappie fishing and didn't see anyone fishing for them. I launched from Steck and was the only person there.

Nice cats! Now that I know how to fillet out the reddish colored stinky meat, They taste awesome! I ate 2 I caught there this spring and they were tasty[Smile]next cats I get I'm going to try a new technique I learned to chop off the tail while still alive and hang them up by the head and bleed them out.. It's supposed to work wonders for the fillets.

Is that on you tube? I didn't bleed 'em and they tasted good. I did cut out the belly meat and it was fantastic.

Here's the link. I'ts a great video with famed chef Gordan Ramsay doing some hand-fishing for cats in Oklahoma and it shows the bleeding out method and of course a great looking catfish recipe from Chef Ramsay.
