Turkeys will still be doing their thing into late May. Good luck to ya'll with early tags. We have general tags and plan a youth hunt trip in late April and then another in May for my wife and I.

Turkey hunting is blast!

The MRS. and I have been hunting turkey for a few years now and have done quite well. She got hers the last evening of the over the counter hunt in May of last year, I called him with two other of his friends in. We have filled our OTC tags almost every year and I have always been able to call them in with a mouth call.

Well the wife and I finally made it out last evening to give it a try, do to the weather this past weekend I passed on the first couple days. After getting comfortable in our Primos blind we were ready. About 7:15 I spotted couple jakes coming across a field a couple hundred yards in front of us and up hill, I started calling and here they come, I use a B-Moble decoy and started moving the decoy and they came in on a string. They approached my decoy which was about 10 feet from my Avian X hen decoy and started giving him the evil eye, I picked out the largest Jake and pulled the trigger with the SX3 and that was it. Shot was about 25 yards, I know a lot of people don't kill jakes but the wife and I have killed enough big toms so we prefer a jake for the pot. Good luck to the rest of you.
