I wanted to get out before the holiday madness. Launched in a hard north wind and spits of rain. One guy was trailering and said the lake was dangerous for his small boat. I had planned to stay in the marina anyway. The wind shifted from north the SE to calm to SW, to calm to W and back to SW again - all before noon. Crazy. Surface water temps were back down to 63° and stayed that way until the sun came out. There were only about a dozen boats out.

Met FishnFool on the water, who reported a crappie and two smallies caught. He had backed way into the brush to avoid the wind.

I dunked crappie jigs in the brush and around the docks all around the marina. Twice. Also trolled a lipless crank for wipers for two more marina laps. Nada. Was starting to look for a checkered flag so I could quit. Finally had my bobber bounce and submerge. Bendo with a nice largemouth on my 9-ft crappie rod. Fun ensued for me. Not so much for him. No pics but he went 3# at the cleaning station. He's gonna get et tonight.

It was nice to meet you. I had one other bite but I missed it. I finally gave up because of the wind.
