At blast off Ronnie and I ran up the river. At our first stop I was picking up and unwrapping my shakey head rod when Ronnie made his first cast with a crank bait and immediately the rod loaded up! Half way to the boat it just came unbuttoned? It was a big fish! It was pulling drag and digging for the bottom but now it was gone. What a way to start out! So we licked our wounds and started fishing again. We fished throwing jigs, cranks, shakey's, and spinner baits. I think we caught a fish on everything except the jig. Ronnie caught our first keeper. We caught a couple of short fish each and then finally I helped Ronnie out by catching two more keepers. One was our largest fish. It was a LM and then I caught an almost 4# SM. During the night I think we culled four or five times but just by ounces. Ronnie was throwing a spinner bait and suddenly yelled out this is a big'in! So I grabbed the net and sure enough it was, a big 'ol Cat fish! Then I caught two more Cat fish and a Gar! I did not catch any of my usual customary Drum. But as trash fisherman we were on there for a while! We moved around some and caught several more fish that wouldn't help us any. Ronnie did catch another keeper SM. Our thee fish weighed in at 11 lbs. something. Just under 12 lbs. and was good enough for second place. It wasn't a fast and furious bite for us but it was steady all night. We caught at least twenty five fish between us. The fish were caught on shaky head worms and spinner baits in 12-15 fow. And a special thank you to all the guys that became the parking lot crew. These guys were helping others to find a parking spot, directing traffic and directing the drivers into the tight parking spots. They even were scooting and moving trailers over by hand to get them inside the parking space and lines. Hope to see everyone Friday June 28th up on the Chick at CFP!
