Mantua 1/26
#1
Thanks, man.

I can't figure Mantua out anymore. It always fished well at first ice, and it started getting more pressure, I think...........

But for years and years I could always count on at least a decent handful of panfiish through the whole ice season, Dec through Feb. A dozen nice perch and bluegills, maybe a couple small bass was a SLOW day. Assuming I moved around to find fish, etc...

There were always more OK days and decent days than really GOOD days after those first couple weeks, but skunks were very rare. Now, I'm getting skunked on panfish as often as not the last couple years. Even when I drill a LOT of holes, and find my way well distant from other fishermen, my best efforts are returning mediocre results.

I do just fine April through June. Plenty of bluegills, and more bass than before it seems. Wish I knew.

Is this down to the changing weather patterns, ya think? I also don't remember Mantua having much slush, etc...
