State Park Status

It's a slow day and I had nothing better to do, so I compiled the State Parks into two (2) groups for everybody's use.  The data comes from the stateparks.utah.gov website and was last updated by the state on 04/17/2020 at 1:53 P.M..  I'll try to keep it current, but make no promises as to it's accuracy at any given time you look at it. But it should give you an idea about what is, or is not, open to you based on which county you actually live in.

I talked with a Davis County friend yesterday who said his Davis County neighbor fished Rockport State Park yesterday because he 'heard' the Governor announced the day before that all State Parks are now open. There is a lot of 'I heard from a buddy' or 'someone told me' this or that is true. All un-substantiated from an official source, but believed none the less. (Hey, its on the Internet so it MUST be true - right?)  Even this post isn't an official post. Here are the State Parks with restricted entry:

1. Dead Horse Point State Park – Open to Grand & San Juan County Residents Only
   
2. Deer Creek State Park – Open to Wasatch County Residents Only
   
3. Echo State Park – Open to Summit County Residents Only
   
4. Goblin Valley State Park – Open to Emery County Residents Only
   
5. Green River State Park and Golf Course – Open to Emery County Residents Only

Bob, open to all? Does that mean non-resident? Some one from another forum is trying to tell me I can't come to Utah to fish. I've had a lifetime license since 1980's. I still want to hit Lincoln Beach and Willard now if I can.

I am NOT throwing any stones at you Randy, but that is just one more example of "I saw it on the Internet, so it must be true."  And in this case it simply isn't true.  There is nothing in any of the Governor's directives that prohibits non-residents of Utah to come here for any activity as long as they follow the guidelines set forth in the directives.  There are some Utah counties that are prohibiting anybody not a resident of the county from doing anything in that county other than passing through, but that is it to the best of my knowledge.

Ask the person on the other forum to show you a VALID source for that incorrect information.  Come on back and fish ANY of the open to all State Parks.

Well guys, I couldn't stand it any more. I took a drive this afternoon to see for myself. I live in Provo and stopped first at the main Deer Creek State Park marina. The gal there said that they were only open for Wasatch county residents but that could change any time. She wanted to blame it on the State, but I reminded her that the State had opened the Parks - it was definately on Wasatch County. She suggested I call before coming 435-654-0171. I thinks we all need to call repeatedly - have their phones ringing off the hook.

Next I stopped at Jordanelle. There was no one in the booth, but the electronic sign said "Wasatch County residents only".

My next stop was Strawberry Reservoir - yes Bob I know it is not a State Park. The ice was back from the shore 15 to 40' most every where I looked. More open water at the ladders. There were quite a few fishing the Ladders. Ice off is here now and it shouldn't be long before the lake is open. Yay, if Wasatch County will get their act together. Even so, I suspect there are not County Officers patroling Strawberry.

Do you live in Duchesne County?  Click picture below.  This screen shot was taken 4/19/2020 at 9:30 PM.  Clearly shows it's closed to non-Duchesne County residents.  But then again, I wasn't there today to ask.
