#1
Jc’s Sportfishing Weekly Fish Report.
As the Admiral Seas It
Fishing Report: 8/01/20 to 8/08/20
Our Office will remain closed due the Covid-19
Until October of this year.

Marlin fishing last few days starting to pick up from Los Arcos to the inside Golden Gate. Lots of Striped Marlin yesterday, we caught 2 Marlin on 1 boat and 1 Sailfish on the other boat on live bait and on lures, lots of fish through to get them to bite, get past the full moon and things should start to pick up.

The last 2 days our boats caught 6 Striped Marlin and 1 Sailfish.

Bisbee’s East Cape Tournament:
Biggest Blue Marlin 704lbs 386lb, Black Marlin 306lb, lots of fishing on the East Cape, great turn out for the tournament, 72 boats.
Live Scoring here: https://bisbees.catchstat.com/Default/To...mentID=100

This last week the fishing was pretty slow with the full moon.

Dorado fish very slow, few small fish on lures tight to the beach, gray rock to the lighthouse.

Tuna last week was ok at the Horse Shoe and the 1150, this week the schools have scattered out, very tough to find even on the schools of porpoise just not marking any fish. The yachts that have been running 35 to 40 miles offshore have done ok when the find them.

Wahoo no reports.

Inshore fishing
Few sierras at Solmar at first light on hoochies.
Rooster, some small ones at the Light House and Rancho Migriño.
Bottom fishing, few triggerfish, few small snapper.

Jc’s Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have a memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Well let’s get on with the fishing report for this past week.

From The Admirals Kitchen!
Six-Minute Seared Ahi Tuna Steaks
These seared ahi tuna steaks take only 6 minutes to make- they're healthy, crispy and seared on the outside, and medium-rare on the inside, and bursting with umami flavor!

Ingredients

2 ahi tuna (yellowfin tuna) steaks (about 4 oz. each, at least 1.5" thick)
    2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil see notes
    1 tablespoon honey see notes
    1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper to taste
    1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
1 tablespoon canola oil or olive oil
green onions, toasted sesame seeds, and lime wedges for serving (optional)

Instructions

1. Pat the ahi tuna steaks dry with a paper towel. Place on a plate or inside a plastic bag.

2. Mix the soy sauce (2 tablespoons), toasted sesame oil (1 tablespoon), honey (1 tablespoon) kosher salt (1/2 teaspoon- OMIT if marinating for more than a couple hours, see notes), pepper (1/4 teaspoon), and cayenne pepper (1/4 teaspoon) until honey is fully dissolved. Pour over the ahi tuna steaks and turn over to coat completely. Optional: allow to marinate for at least 10 minutes, or up to overnight in the refrigerator. Also optional: Reserve a spoonful or two of the marinade before coating the fish for drizzling on top after you've cooked it.

3. Heat a medium skillet (preferably non-stick or a well-seasoned cast iron skillet) on medium-high to high until very hot ( or medium medium-high for nonstick). I recommend giving cast iron 3-5 minutes to get hot and nonstick about 1 minute, depending on how thick it is.

4. Add the canola oil (1 tablespoon) to the hot pan. Sear the tuna for 2 minutes on each side for medium rare (1.5 minutes on each side for rare; 3 on each side for medium). (Note: different burners get hotter depending on your stove. Use your best judgement whether you use medium, medium-high, or high heat, as the marinade may burn if too high heat is used).

5. Remove to a cutting board and allow to rest for at least 3 minutes. Slice into 1/2 inch slices and serve garnished with green onions, toasted sesame seeds, and a squeeze of fresh lime juice, if desired.

COCKTAIL
Fresh Peach Gin and Tonic

Ingredients

- 1/2 ripe peach, sliced
- 2 ounces gin, I used Tanqueray
- 4 ounces tonic water, Fever Tree is my fave!
1 ounce freshly squeeze lime juice
- crushed ice
- rosemary sprigs for garnish
- lime wedges for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

Fill a glass with a few peach wedges and crushed ice. Pour the gin over the ice, then the tonic and squeeze in the lime juice. Stir a few times to combine. Serve immediately with a rosemary sprig popped in for color. Don’t forget to eat the peaches!

BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs. You don't want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking, your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of a fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in the next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report.
