Wasn't Expecting That!

Minding my own bidness while jig fishing for trophy brown trout. I ended up with two surprises.
The first surprise was this pup mackinaw. I'm not used to catching these from shore.

The second surprise was when this carp showed up on my jig. When I first saw it roll on the surface I thought I had a mega-fat brown trout. Then when it got closer and I could see the big scales, it was a bit of a let down. It did fight good, but I sure would of rather had a big brown. I didn't even know carp were in this particular place let alone it would hit a jig.

Nice photos! Not many folks are skilled enough with a camera to make carp look good.
When water temps drop into the 40's the laker pups are anywhere and everywhere in the reservoir. I was at Flaming Gorge two weeks ago catching pups within casting distance of the shore.
